What is three handed euchre?

Three handed euchre is a variation of the traditional card game euchre that is typically played with three players instead of the usual four.

In three handed euchre, players are dealt 16 cards each, leaving four unused cards in the deck. The rule of thumb to decide which player gets the extra card is often determined by either drawing the highest or lowest card from the deck.

Each player is still dealt five cards, but the dealer receives six cards and chooses which card to discard before gameplay begins. The dealer's discarded card is typically placed face up and is not used during the game.

The rules and gameplay of three handed euchre are similar to traditional euchre, with players bidding for the right to declare trump and trying to win the majority of tricks to earn points. However, the dynamics of the game can be quite different with only three players, adding a new level of strategy and complexity to the game.
